Mazda Collaborates with AAA and HAAS Alert to Help Protect Drivers During Roadside Emergencies

Safety doesn’t stop when you pull over.

Mazda North American Operations has announced a new safety collaboration with AAA and HAAS Alert designed to help protect Mazda drivers and passengers during one of the most vulnerable moments on the road: when a vehicle is stopped on the roadside.

The collaboration uses AAA’s Roadside Assistance Program and HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud® Protect service to deliver real-time digital alerts to approaching motorists in supported markets. The goal is simple but important—give other drivers advance notice of a stopped vehicle and encourage them to slow down and move over.

Extending Mazda’s Commitment to Safety Beyond the Vehicle

Mazda has long taken a proactive approach to safety through its Mazda Safety Philosophy, which focuses on understanding real-world risks and helping prevent harm before it occurs.

While Mazda vehicles offer a variety of advanced safety and driver-assistance technologies designed to help protect occupants and avoid collisions, roadside incidents can create an entirely different set of risks.

A disabled or stopped vehicle on the side of the road can be difficult for approaching drivers to see, especially in poor weather, heavy traffic, or low-light conditions. In these situations, the moments after the initial incident can be especially dangerous.

Mazda’s collaboration with AAA and HAAS Alert aims to help address those risks by extending safety beyond the vehicle itself.

How the Roadside Safety Alerts Work

When an eligible Mazda customer requests roadside assistance through the MyMazda app or by calling for assistance, a local AAA-affiliated service provider can be dispatched to provide support.

At the same time, AAA’s partnership with HAAS Alert can help notify approaching drivers of the roadside situation.

Drivers in supported markets may receive Slow Down, Move Over digital alerts through Safety Cloud-connected vehicles or compatible mobile navigation apps. These advance notifications can give motorists additional time to recognize a roadside incident, slow down, and safely move over when possible.

That extra warning could help reduce the risk of secondary crashes involving stopped vehicles, passengers, and roadside service providers.

For Mazda customers, the program adds another layer of support when they need roadside assistance. For other motorists, the digital alerts can provide valuable advance notice of a situation they may not otherwise see until the last moment.

This roadside safety feature is currently available on eligible Mazda vehicles equipped with 24/7 emergency roadside assistance.
