What Does "Certified Pre-Owned" Mean?

Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Mazda models have undergone a rigorous 150-point inspection at your dealership.  Because they are Certified, they come with a Limited Additional Warranty, a Certified Pre-Owned Powertrain Warranty, and Roadside Assistance for as long as you own your Mazda.

Owners of a Certified Pre-Owned Mazda receive the following:

Each Mazda Certified Pre-Owned vehicle is covered by any remaining portion of its original 3-Year/36,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The CPO Limited Vehicle Warranty provides coverage for another 12-Months or up to 12,000-Miles, with no deductible on covered repairs.


Flywheel to freeze plug, thermostat to turbocharger, cylinder block to constant velocity joints, our 7-Year/100,000-Mile CPO Limited Powertrain Warranty has you covered.


In the rare event that a covered part needs to be repaired or replaced, your total out-of-pocket cost will be zero at Mazda Dealers throughout the United States.


Mazda Certified Pre-Owned buyers and qualified family members are covered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by the complimentary Mazda 24-hour Emergency Roadside Assistance Program. Emergency Roadside Assistance for the duration of the 7-Year/100,000-Mile CPO Limited Powertrain Warranty in the U.S. and Canada.

What is included in the Certified Pre-Owned Powertrain Warranty?

The Mazda Certified Pre-Owned Powertrain Warranty will cover all components below for a total of 7 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first from the certified retailed date.  (Please see actual warranty documentation).

What isn't included in the Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty or the CPO Powertrain Warranty?

Parts and Services NOT covered:

  • All items not specifically listed as covered on the Warranty documentation
  • Repairs covered by the Mazda New Vehicle Warranty or recalls
  • Service adjustments and cleaning
  • Repairs needed to any engine, transmission or final drive components caused by and aftermarket-installed turbocharger/supercharger
  • Repairs caused by damage or unreasonable use (damage from road hazards, accident, fire or other casualty, misuse, negligence, racing, or failure cause by modification or parts not authorized by or supplied by Mazda)
  • Damage resulting from lack of required maintenance (failures caused by owner neglecting to perform the required maintenance services set forth in the maintenance schedule of the Owner Manual for the vehicle). Costs of these routine maintenance services are not covered. Proof of maintenance may be required, which may include inspection of the maintenance records.
  • Repairs needed to a covered part caused by the failure of a non-covered part
  • Repairs to the vehicle if the odometer is altered, broken or repaired / replaced so that the actual mileage cannot be determined
  • To the extent allowed by law, loss of use of vehicle including loss of time, inconvenience, commercial loss, consequential damages and personal expenses such as motels, food, gas and mileage
  • Vehicles manufactured for sale out side of the 50 United States and Canada
  • Repairs to the vehicle performed outside the 50 Untied States and Canada, and repairs required because of normal operation outside of the 50 United States and Canada
  • Repairs made on or before the effective date of this Mazda Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty will not be valid if the New Vehicle Limited Warranty has been voided or the vehicle has been totaled or salvaged
  • Ineligible vehicles include vehicles used by police, taxis, livery, shuttle, commuter, ambulances, tow trucks, branded vehicles, or vehicles equipped with snowplows

What is included in the Certified Pre-Owned Mazda Roadside Assistance Program?

As a Mazda Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle customer, you are automatically enrolled in our roadside assistance program free of charge. Mazda's complimentary Roadside Assistance program for Certified Pre-Owned Mazda owners provides:

  • Towing to the nearest authorized Mazda dealership for warranty-related repairs
  • Jump starts
  • Changing of flat tires
  • Gas delivery
  • Lockout assistance
