We breakdown the differences between our three Mazda SUV models

At our Marietta dealership we have a great selection of new Mazda SUVS, and it's not uncommon for shoppers to come in from Roswell or Sandy Springs and go back and forth between two Mazda options. On this page we wanted to break down some key differences between our three vehicles to help you find the best one for your travels around Alpharetta and beyond.

All Mazda CX-3 models have a 2.0L engine with 148 horsepower and 146 lb-ft torque. Some of the Mazda CX-5 SUVS have a 2.5L with 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft torque, though on the top trims you get a stronger 2.5T turbo with 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. You'll definitely feel that torque when you accelerate around Sandy Springs. The Mazda CX-9 has the same 2.5T engine and specs that you can get on the Mazda CX-5.

All trims have a mix of FWD or available AWD. SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring Control is standard across the models and trims, and this technology is what gives any new Mazda model that more refined handling and ride-feel. If you want to tow, the Mazda CX-5 can tow up to 2,000 pounds and the Mazda CX-9 up to 3,500 pounds, when properly equipped.

Mazda CX-3: this model is a subcompact SUV. It's perfect for nimble driving in a city like Atlanta, and it's aimed at young professionals who want to go in the SUV direction but don’t need something as big as the Mazda CX-5 yet. Cargo space for this option is 12.4 cubic feet with all seats up and 44.5 cubic feet if you need to fold the back seats down.

Mazda CX-5: the Mazda CX-5 is considered a small SUV, though models in this segment are rather spacious. If you're a small family you can get away with owning a Mazda CX-5, and it's also great for kid-free drivers who like having extra space for gear. To further maximize the "hauling" capabilities of the Mazda CX-5, consider getting a Genuine Mazda rack to carry bikes/outdoor equipment or a cargo box. Cargo space is 30.9 cubic feet and max 59.6 cubic feet.

Mazda CX-9: if you're a family looking for a three-row, midsize SUV, the Mazda CX-9 is here to help. It's quite possibly one of the most stylish in the segment, and you'll love the upscale interior that proves you don't need to sacrifice aesthetics once you have kids. With all seven seats up you'll have 14.4 cubic feet, 38.2 cubic feet with the third-row down, and 71.2 cubic feet for maximum usage.

Mazda designers know how to treat their customers, which means you'll find a lot of available and standard technologies that make commuting from Duluth or doing errands more enjoyable. All three Mazda SUVS have a standard touchscreen that starts at 7-inches, and on the Mazda CX-5 and Mazda CX-9 you can move up the trims to get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as part of the infotainment system. And although there are slight differences depending on the model, each one has the option of getting a Bose premium sound system.

The technology isn't just all fun and games, though. You can also get serious advanced safety technologies that help with driver assistance and crash avoidance. Some of our favorite features are the pedestrian detection, cruise control with stop/go, and active driving display, which you can find on all three models.

We hope this page has helped you narrow down the right Mazda SUV for your needs. If you're still on the fence, don't worry! Compare your SUV options online or just come into our dealership to test drive your options, and we'll help point you towards the best one for your budget and lifestyle.
