To engineer a work of art, you have to master every detail. We are thrilled to introduce the all-new 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback.
It takes conviction to stand up to the naysayers. A creative fire that's fearless of the blank page and the courage to flip conventional wisdom on its head. Because this is the only way to change the game and the only way to build cars that are truly worth driving. It is how Mazda reinvented the gasoline engine, dramatically improving efficiency without surrendering heart-pounding performance. It is how Mazda engineered a lighter car that's even stronger, safer, more responsive and more exhilarating to drive. These are actions, not words; proof, not theories. Making the impossible possible; it's the Mazda way. It is the all-new 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback way. Jim Ellis Mazda in Marietta, GA treats the needs of each individual customer with paramount concern. We know that you have high expectations, and as a car dealer we enjoy the challenge of meeting and exceeding those standards each and every time. Allow us to demonstrate our commitment to excellence! Whether you live in Duluth, Roswell, Alpharetta, here in Marietta or in the greater Atlanta area, we want you to know that you can "Always Expect the Best" at Jim Ellis Mazda Marietta!
A few years ago, Mazda announced the "Sustainable Zoom-Zoom" plan, detailing the company's long-term vision for technology development. This vision commits to make "cars that always excite, look inviting to drive, are fun to drive, and make you want to drive them again," and to help achieve "an exciting, sustainable future for cars, people and the Earth". Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the 2014 Mazda3 is all-new. Its body, chassis, suspension, and powerful yet fuel efficient drivetrains now all benefit from Mazda's full suite of SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY. With the attractive KODO design, class-leading infotainment features and i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies, the Mazda3 once again raises the bar and leaves the competition far, far behind.
Only the conviction of Mazda engineers could bring the Mazda3 to light. Completely re-imagined, the Mazda3 is a testament to obsessive engineering down to the smallest detail. To achieve a greater level of precision and artistry, Mazda sculpts every design in hard clay rather than relying exclusively on computer-aided design. By using special tools created by the artists themselves, Mazda was able to yield a design so accurate that it measures within a fraction of a millimeter of the engineers' original vision. It's a level of craftsmanship that might seem extreme - and one other automakers would never attempt. But at Mazda - defying convention is how to build cars worth driving. Versatile, nimble, striking; the all new 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback is all of these things. It is a culmination of courageous engineering, creative design and fearless conviction to achieve the impossible.
Designed to capture the motion, power and fluidity of nature, every muscular line and refined curve of the Mazda3 embodies the most dramatic expression of the KODO "Soul of Motion" design to date. Slightly lower and wider, the Mazda3's crouching stance, prominent grille and piercing headlamps make a formidable first impression. But as always with Mazda, form follows function, and the Mazda3's beautifully sculpted exterior also provides outstanding aerodynamics. By offering an exceptionally low coefficient of drag - another way of saying better aerodynamics - the Mazda3 delivers better gas mileage, performance and handling than ever before. It is yet another example of how there's always more to the Mazda3 than meets the eye. The 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback comes in a variety of color options including: Soul Red Metallic, Jet Black Mica, Blue Reflex Mica, Deep Crystal Blue Mica, Meteor Gray Mica, Liquid Silver Metallic, Titanium Flash Mica or Snowflake White Pearl Mica.
The KODO styling starts up front with a bold front fascia, signature e-wing front grille, sculpted hood and predatory headlights then continues down the sides with a cab-rearward stance, sharply raked windshield, taut character lines and large wheels, finishing in the back with contoured rear styling, accentuated fenders, eye-catching taillights and available rear lip spoiler. The wheelbase has been lengthened 2.5" while the overall vehicle length has not, shortening overhangs and allowing a cab-rearward design. The 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback is available in several trims including: i Sport, i Touring, i Grand Touring, s Touring and s Grand Touring.
The 2014 Mazda3 offers available LED daytime running lights with a signature halo ring that adds a nice sophisticated styling touch while making you even more visible to oncoming drivers. From the way the engine responds to every one of your inputs to the steering's almost telepathic tuning, the 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback stirs your very soul - compelling you to get in and go again and again. When it comes to fuel efficiency, the Mazda3 is miles ahead, literally. With up to an astounding EPA-estimated 33 Highway MPG. Not only does the Mazda3's excellent fuel economy mean fewer fill-ups to interrupt your driving enjoyment, but more peace of mind knowing you are consuming less resources.
The 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback delivers two direct-injection engine options to choose from. First, a 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder rated at 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. This engine integrates advanced direct injection, volcano-top pistons and a new 4-2-1 exhaust manifold to achieve a best-in-class high compression ratio of 13:1 without engine knock. Improvements deliver a 2 lb-ft increase in torque for more mid-range power. This engine can be paired with your choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter engine (manual or automatic hatchback) are rated at an impressive 33 mpg combined, with the city and highway cycle numbers varying slightly. The SKYACTIV-G 2.0-Liter engine is standard on the i Sport, i Touring and i Grand Touring. Secondly, a more powerful 184-hp and 185 lb-ft of torque, SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT). This engine integrates advanced direct injection, volcano-top pistons and a new 4-2-1 exhaust manifold to achieve a best-in-class high compression ratio 13:1 without engine knock. It delivers 15% more low- to mid-range torque and 15% better fuel economy than the MZR engines it replaces for fun-to-drive performance with high fuel efficiency. The 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback is rated at either 31 mpg or 32 mpg combined, depending on trim level. The SKYACTIV-G 2.5-Liter engine is standard on the s Touring and s Grand Touring models.
A new high-tech feature on the 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback is i-ELOOP, which is a system that continuously recovers kinetic energy as the vehicle decelerates and reuses it as electricity. Energy that previously would have simply gone to waste is now retained and stored for later use. It can be beneficial in powering the headlights, climate control, stereo system or any number of additional electrical equipment in the vehicle. This technology significantly reduces the need for the engine to burn excess fuel in order to generate electricity which ultimately improves your fuel economy. This system improves fuel economy by approximately 5% during real-world driving conditions with frequent acceleration and braking. In order to create a system which efficiently recaptures kinetic energy, generates electricity and rapidly stores that electricity, Mazda utilizes a variable voltage alternator and low-resistance, high-capacity Electric Double Layer Capacitor (EDLC). Conventional alternator's charge at around 12 volts (V), however i-ELOOP's variable voltage alternators fluctuate its variable output voltage from 12 V to 25V in reply to the voltage level of the capacitor and making it possible to constantly deliver electricity to the capacitor. Unlike a battery that works through a chemical reaction, capacitors collect and store energy as electricity and for this reason it can charge and discharge great quantities of electricity very rapidly. It also displays very little deterioration of the electrodes even after extended consumption. Using capacitors as electricity storage devices in brake energy regeneration systems not only increases fuel economy, it is also expected to lengthen the life span of the vehicles lead-acid battery. Additionally, the capacitor used with i-ELOOP requires no heavy or precious metals, and its chief component is activated charcoal which makes it very environmentally friendly. The active grille shutters open and close automatically depending on driving conditions, improving aerodynamic performance and contributing to gains in real-world fuel economy. The i-ELOOP system is available in the s Grand Touring when equipped with the Technology Package.
A vehicle with too much weight will lead to heavy fuel consumption and overall poor efficiency. In a car, losing weight has counts of positive gains but engineers have to be completely mindful that they are maintaining strength and rigidity because strength keeps it safe and rigidity keeps it handling properly. Mazda engineer's goal with the 2014 Mazda3's body was 30% greater rigidity, top crash safety performance and 8% weight reduction. They reached those goals by using more extensive use of high tensile steel that is stronger and lighter than conventional steel and harder working streamline technology such as crash energy pathways that are more efficient that take advantage of the entire body instead of just the floor. A quicker steering system was designed to make the Mazda3 more nimble at low speeds then using a very European style front suspension geometry, high speed stability was beefed up significantly for that smooth moving autobahn kind of ride. In the rear, wheel angles and pivot points and the suspension links to improve stability to make bumps less bumpy while decreasing brake dive while braking. The SKYACTIV-Body is lighter and stronger and better disperses energy in a collision for improved safety. The SKYACTIV-Chassis makes the vehicle both agile and stable while you are enjoying the best of both worlds at any given speed. Innovative engineering makes exceptional use of high-tensile and ultra-high-tensile steel to keep the vehicle weight low for better fuel economy, while increasing body rigidity for agile, responsive and a smooth, quiet ride. The 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback features a compact MacPherson strut front suspension and a sophisticated multilink rear suspension. This system integrates lighter, more responsive SKYACTIV engineering to keep the wheels in optimum alignment with the road for better handling and ride comfort. Front and rear stabilizer bars help reduce body roll while cornering, keeping wheels grounded to enhance grip and traction. Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) uses a computer-controlled electric motor to apply assistance to the steering column only when needed. This provides more assist during low-speed maneuvering and less assist during high-speed cruising. It takes only 2.6 steering wheel turns-less that even the Miata - to go lock to lock. It does all of this while eliminating the components required in a hydraulic setup, reducing engine load and improving fuel efficiency.
The SKYACTIV-MT 6-speed manual transmission features a compact and lightweight design with less internal friction for improved fuel economy. It offers a short shift stroke with a crisp and precise shift feel for added driving enjoyment. Dual-mass flywheel minimizes engine speed fluctuations for improved noise, vibration and harshness. This transmission is standard on the i Sport, i Touring and i Grand Touring. SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission features an innovative torque converter and lock-up clutch that combines the smooth, seamless shifting of an automatic with the quick, direct shifting of a manual. It uses a high-speed transmission controller for fast, smooth up-shifts and perfectly rev-matched downshifts while providing the hands-off convenience of an automatic with the hands-on control of a manual-shift mode. The s models include steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters for fingertip operation and an available Sport mode for a more engaging driving experience. The shift knob shape was achieved after exhaustive study. Fitting snugly in the driver's palm to provide a sense of engagement and improve the driving experience. The SKYACTIV-Drive transmission is standard on s Touring and s Grand Touring models and optional on i Sport, i Touring and i Grand Touring models.
Out on the open road, the fun never has to stop, but your 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback sure does. The Mazda3 braking system delivers exceptional stopping power for improved control and shorter stopping distances. It does this with the 11-inch ventilated front (11.6 on s models) and 10.4-inch solid rear disc brakes. This braking system features fully ventilated front discs that provide superior cooling to better resist brake fade. Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) allocates front and rear braking force electronically for dependable stopping power under various driving and load conditions. Brake Assist recognizes hard braking and helps you quickly apply maximum braking force in emergencies. Hill Launch Assist (HLA) helps accelerate from a stop while on a slope by maintaining braking force for two seconds after stepping off the brake pedal and before stepping on the accelerator pedal.
You don't necessarily expect safety innovations to improve the driving experience...unless, of course, you're a performance-obsessed automaker like Mazda. In addition to a wide array of passive safety features to protect occupants in a crash, the 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback offers the available suite of i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies which is a collection of advanced safety technologies unavailable in any other car in its class. An active approach to safely, i-ACTIVSENSE is designed to put you closely in tune with your surroundings based on the belief that by making you more aware of road conditions, you'll be better prepared to either prevent an accident or lessen its severity.
The SKYACTIV-Body Ring Structure incorporates an advanced Ring Structure into the floor, cab sides and roof that evolves "Triple H" body construction and adds strength and rigidity to the body and passenger compartment for better crash protection. Front and rear crumple zones help absorb crash energy by progressively collapsing in an accordion-like fashion for greater occupant protection. Front and rear side-impact door beams provide additional occupant protection in the event of a side impact. The 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback is also equipped with an advanced air bag system. The advanced driver's and passenger's front air bags use crash zone and passenger's seat weight sensors to determine deployment, giving supplemental protection to front-seat occupants. Front seat-mounted side-impact air bags use sensors in the side pillars and front doors to determine deployment for supplemental chest protection for front-seat occupants. Front and rear side-impact air curtains use the side-pillar and front-door sensors to determine deployment with front and rear coverage for supplemental head protection for occupants.
The Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) System and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) are features available on the i Touring, i Grand Touring, s Touring and s Grand Touring. The BSM system uses radar sensors inside the rear bumper to monitor rear detection zones when your speed is 7 mph or faster, illuminating a warning light in the outside mirror if a moving vehicle is detected in that zone. BSM sounds a warning beep if you use the turn signal while the warning light for that zone is illuminated. Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) integrates with the BSM system to illuminate warning lights in the outside mirrors and rear-view monitor and sound a warning beep if your vehicle is backing out of a parking space at 8 mph or slower and a vehicle approaches from the side at 3 to 18 mph. Both systems can be deactivated by a switch to the left of the steering wheel.
The 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback s Grand Touring Technology Package delivers some high-tech features to help you navigate safely and smoothly. The Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) uses a forward-sensing camera at the top of the windshield to detect the white or yellow lines of the traffic lane when your vehicle's speed is 44 mph or faster, illuminating a warning indicator in the Active Driving Display and sounding a warning beep if your vehicle is unintentionally deviating from its lane. The audio system speakers emit a warning on the side in which the vehicle may be straying, allowing you to take corrective action. This system senses turn signal usage, steering wheel input and acceleration to prevent false alarms. It can be deactivated by a switch to the left of the steering wheel. Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) which uses a radar sensor behind the front emblem to detect the distance to a vehicle ahead, accelerating and decelerating in conjunction with the vehicle ahead when your speed is preset between 19 and 90 mph. This system provides the convenience of steering-wheel-mounted controls that allow the distance between vehicles to be set to one of four levels: long, medium, short and extremely short. Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW) uses a radar sensor to detect a vehicle or obstruction ahead when your vehicle speed is 10 mph or faster, illuminating a warning indicator in the Active Driving Display and sounding a warning beep if the system determines that your vehicle may hit the vehicle or obstruction ahead. Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) uses a near-infrared laser sensor at the top of the windshield to detect a vehicle ahead when your speed is between 2 and 18 mph, applying the brakes if the system determines that a collision with the vehicle ahead is unavoidable. This system prepares the brakes for stopping by moving the pads closer to the disc when it detects a vehicle ahead helping you to possibly avoid a collision if the relative speed between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead is 9 mph or slower. The SCBS automatic brake is released approximately 2 seconds after your vehicle comes to a stop. A warning is illuminated in the Active Driving Display. High Beam Control (HBC) uses the forward-sensing camera to determine the conditions in front of the vehicle while you drive at night and will automatically switch the headlights between high and low beams. This system switches to high beams when your speed is 18 mph or faster and the system detects there are no vehicles in front of your vehicle or approaching in the opposite direction. It switches to low beams when the system detects a vehicle or the lights of a vehicle in front of your vehicle approaching in the opposite direction, when driving on roads lined with streetlights or in well-lit areas, or when your speed is 12 mph or slower.
Available on s Touring and s Grand Touring are the Bi-Xenon High-Intensity-Discharge (HID) headlights that include low and high beams to provide one of the brightest and most uniform light patterns on the road, while lasting up to five times longer than halogen headlights. These use a windshield-mounted sensor to measure ambient light conditions and turn the headlights on or off. Available on the s Grand Touring is the automatic leveling feature that avoids causing undue glare to oncoming traffic, changing the angle of the headlights when they are turned on, based on the number of passengers and weight of cargo. The s Grand Touring models are equipped with the Adaptive Front-Lighting System (AFS) which pivots the Bi-Xenon headlights to the left or right up to 15 degrees as you steer, illuminating more of the road for better visibility while cornering. Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers are standard on the s Grand Touring. They use a windshield-mounted sensor to detect the first drop of rain and automatically turn the wipers on and off. This system helps to keep your hands on the wheel during inclement weather for increased safety and convenience. There is a ring on the windshield wiper stalk that allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the wipers.
